Kanchanaburi is quite a small town but one which has many places of interest nearby. It quckly became my favorite place in the Kingdom which is why we stayed there twice during this holiday. We located the lovely welcoming VN guest house right by, and part of it on,the river. This was not the River Kwai as it had been wrongly named in the novel and film about the Burma railway, but rather a triibutoryof the Kwai. Ever enterprisng the Thai’s have simply re-named it to be the Kwai. Afew miles away is the site known as Hellfire Pass witha museum commemorating the many POWs and forced labourers from Burma who died contstructing this ill conceived project. The photoshopefully give a flavour of what we did there.
